Mamleshwar, also spelled Amaleshwar, Amreshwar or Amareshwar, means "Lord of the Immortals", and it stands on the mainland south bank of the Narmada, facing the island where the better-known Omkareshwar temple sits. This guide covers Mamleshwar temple Omkareshwar timings and how to reach it by road. It also covers how it fits with a visit to the island shrine, and which details we could not confirm. Sources disagree on the opening hours, so treat every number below as "verify on the day".
How the two temples relate
The geography is simple. The main Omkareshwar temple is on the island in the river. Mamleshwar is on the south bank, the same side as the town and bus stand. If you arrive by road you do not need a boat or bridge to reach Mamleshwar. The island is reached by boats and a bridge, according to Wikipedia, which gives no dates for either.
Many travel sites say Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar together count as one jyotirlinga among the twelve, and that pilgrims should visit both. That is a tradition repeated by those sites, and one of them is titled "The Other Half of the Jyotirlinga". Wikipedia's Omkareshwar Temple article names only Omkareshwar as one of the twelve. One travel site also offers a symbolic reading: the island is the formless aspect and Mamleshwar the form-based (Saguna) aspect, with daily abhishekam. Treat that as one site's interpretation.

Mamleshwar temple timings (two sources, two answers)
We found no official Mamleshwar page, and the Omkareshwar trust website does not mention it. The timings come from aggregators and they conflict.

The trust's schedule also lists a midday ritual from 12:20 to 1:15 PM, evening worship from 4:00 to 4:30 PM and final rituals from 9:30 to 10:30 PM. It says timings may vary at festivals. One other aggregator search snippet claims Mamleshwar closes from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. That contradicts both ranges above and we could not corroborate it, so treat it as an unconfirmed outlier and do not plan around it. Since Ranges A and B both cover the morning and evening, arriving then and checking at the gate is the safer plan.

How to reach Mamleshwar by road
Distances below are from temple.yatradham.org unless noted, and are approximate.
- From the bus stand: Thrillophilia puts the temple 1.9 km away.
- By air: Indore airport is about 85 km away.
- By rail: Omkareshwar Road station is roughly 10 to 12 km away (sources differ). Indore railway station is 77 to 80 km.
- Map pin: OpenStreetMap coordinates are 22.24226, 76.15061. We did not independently re-verify them, so check them against Google Maps before you set off.
yatradham lists the season as October to March, with Mahashivaratri and Kartik Poornima as the main festivals. Nearby, Thrillophilia lists Siddhanath Temple and Kajal Rani Cave.
History, with the sourcing shown
Wikipedia dates the Omkareshwar temple complex to the 11th century under the Paramara kings, and says it was rebuilt in the 18th century by the Holkars (Gautama Bai, with the work completed by Ahilyabai). Thrillophilia describes Mamleshwar as a protected monument with a hall and sanctum. It says about 1,000 small Shivalingas on a wooden board are worshipped daily, and that the temple once had 22 Brahmin priests since Ahilyabai's era and now has about 5. That is a single source, so verify it on the visit.
Search summary, unconfirmed: inscriptions at Mamleshwar are said to include a Halayudhastotra with a Vikram Samvat date equal to 1063 CE on the south wall of the ardhamandapa, plus Mahimnastava and Narmadastotra inscriptions of the 11th century. We have not confirmed the wording.

- The walking distance between Mamleshwar and the main temple or bridge. A figure of about 100 m appears on one site, and we could not check it.
- Crowd hours. We found no sourced data.
- Any official Mamleshwar festival schedule.
- The length of the bridge.
- Which of the timing ranges is current.
