The MP Tourism range of INR 7,000 to 28,000 is wide, so check the exact room category on the booking portal (mpstdc.com) before you commit. MP Tourism lists two different contact numbers for this hotel, so book through the portal rather than trusting either.
Mid-range: MPT Shipra Residency and MPT Ujjaini
Both are state-run, both sit in Freeganj near Madhav Club, and both have published MP Tourism tariffs. Shipra Residency is the one with the parking and garden; Ujjaini lists conference facilities for up to 1,000 guests. MP Tourism lists no temple distance for either, so check the route on a map before booking if walking matters to you.
Budget and dharamshala
Bhakta Niwas is the temple-run option and Tripadvisor lists it at 0.0 mi. I am not quoting room rates for it: the temple's own Bhakt Niwas page would not load securely when I checked, and the only tariffs I found were on unofficial sites. Hotel Bholenath Palace (mid-budget) is the easiest to verify, since it appears on both Tripadvisor and Booking.com. Booking safely: fake Bhakt Niwas sites
- The Tribune article dated 21 June 2025 reported that Ujjain Police had shut down nine fake websites posing as Shri Mahakaleshwar Bhakt Niwas, and that some people paid for bookings that did not exist. Police urged booking only through the authorised website and reporting fraud to the police IT cell.
- ETV Bharat and India.com name www.shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in as the official domain for aarti booking.
- I could not confirm exactly how Bhakt Niwas rooms are booked. Check with the temple committee, and start from the official .mp.gov.in portal rather than a search result that merely says "official".
